Ok… I don’t REALLY want you to call up Yelp.com and tell them that they are blocking good people from getting cleanings that they need and deserve… BUT… that IS what is happening!!!

Please, let me “Soap Box” for a minute about YELP business practices and fees.

I know this isn’t really a cleaning tip… but something needs to be said. And maybe it will help you when you are looking for someone to assist with a future one-time cleaning or handyman job:

On Yelp, I noticed an ad for someone who just needs one quick 2-hr cleaning.

They posted it on Yelp and, I was able to see it since I am a registered business, (you can check us out on here. It’s new. In fact, if you have used Dreamitclean.info or Jodelle’s Cleaning Service please leave a good review. Reviews are the best part of Yelp. Reviews help people).

I wrote the person an email saying ‘no problem I could do the job in 2 hrs and we DO have a good price. Even a BETTER deal right now 15% off a first 2hr cleaning…’ Well, YOU know our total price is only $85 ($72 with the deal!)… YELP then proceeded to charge (or would have charged) $47 dollars for the “lead”… (in addition to daily fees to me) I shed an inner tear for the person who won’t get his cleaning. And then felt forced to cancelled the email I had written him.

Not only is Yelp’s $47 fee EXORBITANT and highway robbery for a platform that’s sole job is to connect services and business with people who need them… but it was downright WRONG to deprive a hard working person who NEEDED just one studio cleaning. I can’t even hear his story, or find out more about why he posted! Maybe he is moving because his dad is dying. Maybe he needs to come home to a clean house after vacation. Maybe he just needs to impress his girlfriend. Those are all really good reasons for a clean space! And I could help! Someone could help!

But, NO ONE can afford to clean for YELP “leads” based on those middle man prices. Or even to send him an email (because, we aren’t guaranteed our money back when we send the email). It makes me so sad!

I hope YELP will find it in their hearts to treat people better.

Ok. I am done “Soapboxing”. And I am almost calm again he he. Thanks for listening. I get passionate about cleaning. People need a helping hand! And I love to provide a clean space.
